Southern Laos is one of Asia's hidden gems. Tranquil and serene, this sparsely populated part of the country is the perfect destination for those who love exploring nature. Five days spent in the quiet countryside and jungle, staying on an isolated island and we think you'll feel a genuine 'Blend of Calm'.
Set off from Pakse to the Boloven Plateau. Here, in the cool highlands, Laos' delicious coffee and tea is grown and harvested. Talk a walk amongst the plantations learning more about the growing, harvesting, and roasting process of the coffee beans and tea leaves.
After visiting cascading waterfalls, transfer south to Don Daeng Island and La Folie Lodge, your base for the next four nights. Peaceful Don Daneg is situated in the middle of the Mekong River and the Lodge has sweeping views of the river and distant mountains. As you sit poolside or on your bungalow's balcony, all worry and stress will melt away in the calming environment.
Visit the magnificent Wat Phou, an 11th century temple which rises majestically from the rice fields in to the surrounding hills. The temple is a UNESCO heritage site, but is rarely visited leaving you to soak in the atmosphere and vistas in solitude. Explore the lush jungle from the back of an elephant, as you ride one of Asia's most beloved animals through trees and over hills.
An excursion to the south takes you to the 4000 Islands region near the Cambodian border. Here, life seems to stand still as many of the islands do not have motorized vehicles and the locals live off the land. The area is home to the endangered Irrawaddy dolphins and as you might catch a glimpse of one as you cruise along the Mekong.
Spend a day exploring Don Daeng island by bike. As you cruise around the quiet dirt paths, revel in the calmness that surrounds you. Upon returning to Pakse, we think you'll agree: Southern Laos is a serene haven.
Northern Laos offers some of the best combination of biking trail, natural terrain, and hilltribe villages. With our Splendors Of North Laos Biking tour, you will pedal your way past mountains, jungles, rivers, and the peaceful countryside. After your bike adventure, rest up those tired legs on a relaxing boat cruise along the Mekong River and reflect on your Lao tour adventure.

After a visit with the Mine Action Group, set off for the Plain of Jars and see these items lying randomly across the countryside while learning about various legends regarding these phenomena.
