Once the residence of local nobility, this restored property retains its regal splendour by blending traditional Laotian architecture with echoes of its French colonial past.
The Villa Maly aims to provide a ‘Residence of Charm' by creating an atmosphere similar to that of staying in a private villa. The 1920's mansion that serves as the hotel has been painstakingly restored to retain its colonial charm whilst bringing its facilities up to modern standards. Stepping in to the foyer, one is transported back to the splendor of the colonial era.
The 33 guest rooms and suites are scattered across the five low rise buildings. Each room blends familiar, classic lines with vibrant colours and textiles creating a style that defies description. Classic fixtures such as wooden parquet floors, four-poster beds, mahogany armoires and classic fans evoke the feeling of a bygone era. All rooms come equipped with modern amenities, including an en-suite bathroom with rain shower.
Within its premises, Villa Maly has no shortage of dining and relaxation options. Le Café serves international and continental favourites in an alfresco setting while cocktails and beverages are available all day long at Le Bar. Beauty services and massage treatments are provided at Le Salon and La Boutique makes a perfect spot to rummage for traditional handicrafts and souvenirs. Framed by tall trees and comfortable sun beds, the wooden-decked pool entices a lazy sojourn.
Villa Maly is situated in a quiet neighborhood within walking distance of the central part of Luang Prabang and the banks of the Mekong River. Guests can explore the town on foot or use one of hotel's bicycles to pedal around the city.
Without a doubt, Villa Maly is Luang Prabang's most innovative and welcoming hotel.
