The Boat Landing Guest House - Luang Namtha

Who should go?
Boatlanding Guesthouse is a great base for nature and eco-lovers visiting the Luang Nam Tha province.  Not only is the property ideally located near the entrance to the Nam Ha Protected area, Boatlanding also is a destination itself with its tranquil surroundings, river views and environmentally friendly rooms. Adventurous travelers will appreciate the variety of activities offered by the Guesthouse and its restaurant is perfect for fueling up for an active day. With its eco-friendly theme, the Boatlanding does not offer air-conditioning in its rooms meaning that older travelers or families with small children may be uncomfortable in the summer months.

When to go?
From November to February the weather in Laos is cool and dry and the best time for outdoor adventures in northern Laos. Not only is the weather good, but Luang Nam Tha's waterfalls and rivers are full of clear waters. March to June can be brutally hot and July to October tend to be very rainy, both of which can affect trekking or cycling itineraries. Pii Mai, Lao New Year, is in April and the celebrations include parades and water fights but accommodation can be difficult to find so plan in advance.

Where is it?
The Boatlanding Guesthouse is located on a quiet section of the Nam Tha River approximately 6 kilometers from the main town of Luang Nam Tha. Additional, the Nam Ha Protected area, is a popular eco-tourism destination, is just a few kilometers away. The town is in the northwest of Laos close to the Chinese border.

What's not to be missed?
Trekking through Nam Ha Protected area. Watching the fishermen on the Nam Tha River from your balcony. Homestays with local Akha hilltribes. Cycling through rural Laos. Enjoying a delicious Lao feast at Boatlanding Guesthouse.  Swimming in Luang Nam Tha's waterfalls.

What's cooking?
The Boatlanding's restaurant is far and away the best dining in Luang Nam Tha. Relying on locally grown produce and traditional Northern Laos cooking techniques, the food is always fresh and flavorful. The restaurant also serves up delicious, refreshing fruit shakes and can organize picnic lunches for those embarking on a full day of trekking or exploration.
