Who Should Go?
The eco-friendly Kamu Lodge is a destination where visitors can experience the natural beauty and immerse themselves in the local hilltribe culture while staying in comfort. Its proximity to Luang Prabang makes it a great option for travelers who only have a limited time in Laos but still wish to see the rural life and diversity of the peoples. However the secluded and tranquil setting is not ideal for those seeking lively nightlife or vibrant atmospheres.
When to Go?
From November to February the weather in Laos is cool and dry and ideal for visiting the Kamu Lodge. March to June sees temperatures soaring in to the high 30s (Celsius) but the skies are clear and the trekking trails are dry. July to October tend to be very rainy, limiting the number of outdoor activities available at Kamu Lodge.
What not to Miss?
Trying Kamu-style activities: planting rice, panning for gold or fishing. Light trek through the Lodge's surrounding forest. Interacting with the friendly locals. Dining on delicious, fresh Lao cuisine at the Lodge. A traditional Kamu massage. Sunset cocktails.
What's Cooking?
Kamu Lodge incorporates the area's beautiful natural surroundings into its restaurant by creating meals from fresh local ingredients and serving them in an al fresco setting. The restaurant is built of natural materials, seated on stilts high above the surrounding fields and the chefs create tasty, nutritious Lao cuisine enhanced by the flavors of locally grown vegetables and tropical fruits. The Bar, with its relaxing ambiance, is the perfect place to unwind after a day of trekking or exploring.
